A terrible case: a man, former sheriff, murders his wife and three children. He confesses and describes the crimes sadly, but calmly. The prosecutor is pushing hard for the death penalty and has called in Frank to do a profile to nail it down.
The man's lawyer can do nothing but try to avoid the death penalty. Frank, as always, starts having doubts as to what happened.
The photo of the little girl looks much like Jordan.
This is a conversation and forensics heavy episode. No Millennium content apart from grief and sadness. Frank doesn't answer when asked what he thinks about capital punishment.
"Angels" become a continuing motif.
We don't know how the story ends.

This is the last episode for Don MacKay as the Black's nosy neighbor Jack Meredith. He was never anything but pleasant but you get the feeling the Blacks didn't like him much, which lead the audience to suspect him of being a serial killer in disguise. He was in four episodes of The X-Files.
